<p>The formats pbm, pgm and ppm are fully supported. The pam decoder recognizes the tuple types

<code>BLACKANDWHITE</code>, <code>GRAYSCALE</code> and <code>RGB</code> and explicitely recognizes but rejects their <code>_ALPHA</code>

variants for now as alpha color types are unsupported.</p>
